Description
I am a former university news editor and professor with more than 40 years of experience in professional newswriting, feature writing, copyediting, photography, and media relations. I am skilled in interviewing and research and able to write accurately, creatively, and effectively on a diverse range of subjects for newspapers; consumer, trade, and academic publications; books; newsletters; websites; and annual reports. I am detail-oriented, deadline-driven, flexible, and able to juggle multiple projects at the same time.
My articles and photos have been published in more than 300 magazines and newspapers in five countries--with multiple sales to many of these publications--including Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, Links--the Best of Golf, AAA Home and Away, AAA Journeys, Chile Pepper Magazine, German World, Porthole Cruise Magazine, and Wildlife Australia. I am the author of 10 children's non-fiction books (two biographies and eight travel-geography books), as well as a contributor to several books including the Science Yearbook of the World Book Encyclopedia, Reader's Digest Canada's Coast-to-Coast Discoveries, and five National Geographic Society illustrated coffee table books, among others. Currently a full-time freelance writer, I often write about travel, especially nature tourism, culinary travel, soft adventure, history, culture, and international destinations.
