Description

I have extensive experience copyediting creative writing and scientific and academic texts, as well as trade nonfiction from people at all levels. But as a writer, I also know what it is like on the other side of the desk. I believe in preserving the writer’s voice and intentions and strengthening creative work through a collaborative editing process. I have proofread, copyedited, and helped develop memoirs, novels, articles, essays, and poetry.

As a writing coach, I will work with you to set and accomplish your writing goals. We will break down a large project into smaller steps, and develop a series of techniques to carry you through the entire process. My approach is practical and highly personalized. Together we will work to overcome common writing problems such as anxiety, writer’s block, time management, burn out, procrastination, and other irritating barriers that can keep a writer from finishing a project. I am dedicated to helping you determine the voice, schedule, style, and scope of writing that works for you.

I am a widely published poet and nonfiction writer. I am the author of Stuff Every Beer Snob Should Know (Quirk Books, 2018) and The Writer's Field Journal (Fox Chapel Publishing, forthcoming). My work has appeared in a slew of literary journals and anthologies. I have been a writing tutor and instructor at Bennington College, Endicott College, and Rhode Island College.
